| Q: Why am I experiencing frequent GPF's (General Protection Faults) in Module EXCEL.EXE? |
GPF's are often caused by a lack of resources or system conflicts. Windows 98 allows for a somewhat limited resource space. This means only so many applications, fonts, desktop
icons etc. can be loaded at a time. This is independent of total memory; therefore an 32MB system and a 128MB system can both run short of system resources with the same Windows environment.
Solution 1: Make sure you are running Excel 2000 or greater. To check your version, run TRACTIMETM or Excel, then select Help/About. If you have an
older version of Excel, request an upgrade from Microsoft or through the Internet download a patch from www.microsoft.com.
Solution 2: Make sure you are loading the Add-In NSMFNC32.XLL. With Excel running, select Tools/Add-Ins and make sure the 'NSM Date Functions' box is checked. Deselect any unnecessary
Add-Ins, as they consume extra resources.
Note: See the Installation & Setup Chapter regarding this Add In.
Solution 3: Make sure you are not running any extra programs either DOS or Windows® in the background.
Solution 4: Find a good reference on optimizing windows or call National Schedule Masters for more information.

| Q: Why am I experiencing '#NAME?' in the cells of my project? |
Solution 1: Make sure the Add-In NSMFNC32.XLL is loaded. See solution 2 above.
If you are experiencing 'This document contains links. Re-establish links?'
Solution 1: You may have moved the files NSMGUI12.XLS and NSMLOG12.XLA into different directories. Both these files need to be in the same directory they were installed in: C:\TracTime.
| Q: Why are there pound '#' signs in the cells of my project? |
Solution 1: Check to see if a rate per day on the DFR is missing or non-numeric. Also delete any rates which extend below the logic.
Solution 2: Make sure the lot numbers are filled out correctly and are all numeric.
Solution 3: Make sure the Add-In NSMFNC32.XLL is loaded. Check Tools/Add-Ins, to verify that 'NSM Date Functions' is checked. If this is not checked, then select it. However if you
don't see this name listed, after scrolling then see Installation in your TracTime manual for loading instructions.

| Q: Why is the Daily Field Report not displaying the correct information? |
Solution 1: If the Lot Numbers have been updated, the Logic Length or the Milestones have been changed, then run:
1. Start Date Tool - This updates the dates on the DFR
2. DFR Formatter Tool - This updates milestone changes for the DFR and verifies the appearance of the DFR.
| Q: Why is my Tag Queries are not displaying the correct information? |
Solution 1: Make sure you follow the order below when editing the logic length in the DFR.
1. Start Date Tool - This updates the dates on the DFR
2. DFR Formatter Tool - This updates milestone changes for the DFR
3. Tag Queries Tool - Update the appropriate report.
Note: While not always necessary to use all these steps, this ensures a correct display, if you are experiencing problems.
Solution 2: Verify that the DFR has the proper notations for the Tag Query you are running. All "M", "I", "O", "B", & "Q" items are properly marked as well as any real-word query
kewords are listed. |
| Q: Why is the Chart not displaying the correct information? |
Solution 1: Make sure the appropriate Tag Query is updated, then select the Chart Tool.
Note: The Chart will not display any information until actual dates are entered into the DFR.
| Q: Why is the Start Date Calculator not displaying the correct information? |
Solution 1: Check your system clock for the correct date.
CMOS: Usually in Standard Settings
Windows 98/NT/2000/XP: Taskbar, double click the time displayed in the Tray, Date & Time Tab
| Q: When do I need to use my start date tool? |

| Q: How do I revise a scheduled date? |
Use the DFR Revision tool. Right click on a scheduled date. A dialog box will appear. Select Phase Editor or Lot Editor. Phase Editor affects every lot, whereas your Lot
Editor is lot specific. Now enter your revision information and click OK.

You have clicked in an area that is secure and will not allow changes. You must use the correct tool on the tool bar to make changes on the schedule.

You must re-run your start date tool to recalculate your dates.
| Q: Why is my schedule off by a few days? |
Make sure your holidays reflect the current year. You must custom enter them into your program under the Holidays and Days Off Tool.
| Q: My project is showing a variance of -200 or more days. What's wrong? |
Your actual dates default to the current year when no specific year is entered. When entering an actual date which is for the previous year, you must specify its year, otherwise
it will default to the current year, or use the DFR Date Tools. To correct this condition, click the Tools, Utilities and Options tool, choose Adjust Actual Dates and click OK. This will
subtract or add 1 year to any actual date that varies more than __ number of months from the scheduled date, as specified by the slider.

Q: I think my file is corrupt. What can I do?
If your file does not open, it is probably corrupt. A file may become corrupt for several reasons: Computer crash with the file open, network connection issues, or dial-up
connection failure (if e-mailing or remote reporting). Your file may not be recoverable, but if you email your file to
helpdesk@tractime.com, we may be able to recover some or all of your data.
